A police officer has met his untimely death after a Kia Rhino truck ran over a police patrol vehicle with registration number GP-483 and dragged it into a store at Gomoa Akotsi in the Central Region.

The crash, which occurred on Monday, April 22, 2025, left five others critically injured.

Information gathered by Kasapa News Yaw Boagyan, indicates that the police officers numbering about five who were on their daily patrol had packed their vehicle along the roadside at Gomoa Akotsi.

The Kia Rhino, which was coming from the opposite direction failed to brake and rammed into the police vehicle, dragging it into a store nearby.

Due to the huge impact, a police officer who was sitting in the bucket of the police vehicle unfortunately fell down with his neck hitting the tarred road, leading to his death while five others sustained critical injuries.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased police officer has been deposited at the Winneba Special and Trauma Hospital Mortuary for autopsy and preservation.

The injured persons are also receiving treatment at the same hospital.

The driver of the Kia Rhino has been arrested and is assisting the police with their investigation.
