Police investigate freak deaths at Akoepe

Ho, Feb 18, GNA - Two men believed to be in their 50s have been foun= d dead in the bush about 10 kilometres away from Akoefe-Gadza in the Ho Municipal area on Tuesday night. The Ho Police are trying to unravel circumstances leading to the dea= th of Kofi Atsia and Raymond Asare in the bush. Atsia was said to have gone into the bush with his pal David Goga to=

burn charcoal when the incident happened.

Mr David Ampah-Bennin, Volta Regional Police Commander told journali= sts that the police were called to the scene of the incident by the chief of Akoefe-Gadza who described the circumstances surrounding the incident as murky. He said Goga told the police that Asare emerged from the bush while they, (he Goga and Atsia) were around their charcoal mounds, and shot Ats= ia at close range and escaped.

Mr Ampah-Bennin said Goga clai med that he fled the scene wailing for=

help only to return with some palm wine tapers to see Asare, the alleged assassin also lying dead around the area, with a deep wound under his chi= n and a single barrel gun by him. He said the bodies had been sent to the Police Hospital morgue while=

police had started picking bits and pieces of information for clues to wh= at actually happened.
