Phase two of the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) rehabilitation project will be fully completed by Nov. 15 this year. On completion of this phase, KIA will be able to handle three million passengers per year. The increased capacity will raise the profile of KIA among the international airports in West Africa.

Director of Public Affairs, Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, Eric T. Noi, told the paper that a total US$120 million has been spent on the project so far.The original estimate of the total cost was US$103 million. However, it was revised due to an expansion of the scope of work.

The second-phase, whose execution began five years ago was divided into four lots due to the complexity of the work required. The first three lots were completed within four years and the new facilities were inaugurated.
