Parliamentary delegation leaves for Canada

A THREE-MEMBER Parliamentary delegation led by the Minority Leader, Honourable Alban Bagbin, left Accra on Friday night for Ottawa, Canada, to attend the Global Conference of Parliamentarians against corruption. Other members of the delegation are:

The Majority Chief Whip, Mr Osei Kyei Mensa-Bonsu and the Minority Chief Whip, Mr Doe Adjaho.

The conference, which began last Saturday, will discuss and plan strategies for strengthening the legislature’s role in fighting corruption.

It will also launch a new organisation to be known as the Global Organisation of Parliamentarians Against Corruption, which will be mandated to build and maintain an international network of parliamentarians on a regional basis to fight malfeasance and promote good governance.

The organisation will also support the establishment and maintenance of chapters of parliamentarians through information sharing and research on good parliamentary practices. The delegation will be away for one week.
