The Food and Drugs Board (FDB) on Friday said Pampam medi-cream, a herbal medicine, which has been introduced into the market and being promoted has not been registered with the board, therefore, its safety could not be guaranteed.
A statement signed by Mr E. K. Agyarko, Chief Executive of FDB said the quality, safety and efficacy of the drug which claimed to be offering additional protection against HIV/AIDS could not be determined by the Board.
In this regard the Board cautioned pharmacies, licensed chemical sellers and the general public to desist from purchasing the drug.
Meanwhile investigations are underway to enable the Board to retrieve quantities of the drug already circulating in the market.
