'Palaver' House Auction: No Buyers, No Sellers,

The property of Mr Lionel Joojo Bruce Quansah, which was due to go under the hammer at the droop of the auctioneers gavel yesterday did not go as widely reported. There were no takers; no buyers and the auctioneers themselves did not show up as scheduled at the Amanfrom residence, which is near Kasoa in the Central region.

Joojo himself was present and news sources that were present at the location near Kasoa to watch the heartbreaking even take place confirmed to The Chronicle that there was no show.

The house was to be sold to make up for the shortfall in the quantum of money recovered after bits of his property including his car were taken from his house by bailiffs, accompanied by police men to settle a judgement debt of ?440 million in a libel case in which the brother of the President, Mr George Kufour had obtained against Bruce Quansah and the Palaver, the newspaper which is the official mouth piece of one of the factions within the NDC which had Mr Kwamena Ahwoi as its main backer.

The NDC press, specifically the Lens had warned in a haunting blood curdling threat in its editorial page to any member of the public who stepped up to buy the house, would be facing the risk of being dispossessed of it, adding that they would make sure the house would be retaken from the buyer by force. Mr Ahwoi had always beeen a part of the Palaver which he run when he was the Minister for Local Government in the NDC government.
