PNC New Year Message

HOPE AND INSPIRATION; CRUCIAL FOR A PROSPEROUS 2010

As we prepare to usher in the New Year, the PNC, in line with our demonstrated zeal and commitment towards improving the socio-economic fortunes of Ghanaians, takes this opportunity once again extend to our nation and its citizenry the best for 2010.

We note that the conduct and the expectations of the citizenry depends on how they are made to understand or perceive the actions of those put at the helm of affairs necessary for building a society that meet the aspirations of all citizens. The PNC therefore feels obliged to psyche the populace in the most positive manner as they depart from 2009 to 2010 as we stride towards the realisation of a ‘PROSPEROUS GHANA’.

The Better Ghana agenda which sipped so well into the minds of Ghanaians also occasioned a significant hype in the expectation of the citizenry. Thus, where these performances fell short of these over expectations, it resulted in frustration and despair. Understandably so, the government has done what it can do to the best of its ability despite the setbacks and hiccups which resulted in some eminent shortfalls some of which are pardonable and others not at all. As a party that thrive and trumpet on the tenets of socialism and advocates equal opportunities for all, the PNC deems it imperative to assure Ghanaians of the varied looming prospects of the year 2010 and hence the theme of this message; ‘HOPE AND INSPIRATION; CRUCIAL FOR A PROSPEROUS 2010’. The Party entreats Ghanaians to exhibit the virtues of hope and optimism which are critical for ensuring the ability of the citizenry to stand up to the test of the daunting challenges that lie ahead of them as well as breaking barriers into new frontiers which hold sway to a blissful and promising 2010. It important for Ghanaians to get inspired and motivated because our forebears put their blood, sweat, tears, toil and defied the odds for us to reach this far in our national journey. Ghana is touted as a country of peace, unity, friendliness and hospitality. However, there are times in the history of this country where these virtues are threatened by conflicts which border around politics, religion, chieftaincy, ethnicity, land etc. It is the fervent wish and desire of the PNC to help build a united, free and focused Ghana which defies the divisive tendencies of religion, ethnicity, chieftaincy, politics etc which is essential for building a prosperous and promising Ghana which offers hope and inspiration for present and future generations.

To the ruling NDC, the Better Ghana Agenda might be on course but more needs to be done. To our teeming supporters and sympathisers, the PNC is rejuvenating and re-enforcing its structures and personnel in anticipation of 2012 and to the whole Ghana, we are one people with a common destiny and it is the responsibility and duty of every citizen to contribute towards realising that common destiny.

The PNC wishes all Ghanaians a prosperous and incident-free new year in 2010. General Secretary (Bernard Mornah)
