Overview Of The Ghana Skills Bank

GHANA SKILLS BANK
C/O Office of the President’s Special Initiatives
State House, Accra

The Ghana Skills Bank (“GSB”) Project is an internet based interactive database that documents the skills, expertise and achievements of Ghanaian professionals and successful entrepreneurs from around the world.

Whenever one travels around the globe, from Finland in the north, to Argentina in the South, from China in the Far east, to the United States of America, one finds an impressive number of Ghanaians occupying high and influential positions in government, non-government organization, international development agencies, academia and in the corporate sector.

The GSB Network, an initiative of the Ghana Embassy in Washington D.C. United States of America, and sponsored by UNDP Ghana, connects Ghanaian professionals in all industries and disciplines with organizations in search of the most qualified personnel. The database provides the Government of Ghana, business organizations, and the international donor community with a centralized database of detailed information about the skills base of Ghanaians professionals, business leaders and successful entrepreneurs around the world.

The GSB is therefore a census of Ghanaian capacities, a pool of executive and talent search, and a forum for the exchange of ideas on approaches to confront the development challenges facing our country. As Ghana charts a new course in its developmental efforts, there is the need to mobilize its enormous human capital that is spread across the globe, and channel it to the benefit of our dear country. This initiative provides the opportunity for Ghanaians abroad to “give aback” to our motherland.

For jobs seekers, the GSB is a lifelong career network providing continuous access to the most progressive companies and contacts worldwide. Among the features inherent in the database are: professional chat Rooms and Information Exchange, Message Boards, Job Search Forums and Job Listings.

The Ghana Skills Bank is organized under the general supervision and direction of a Board of Trustees, headed by His Excellency Alan Kyerematen, Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States of America, and the newly nominated Minister of Trade, Industries and the President’s Special Initiatives. The day to day operations of the Bank will be managed by a National Coordinating Committee with Mr. Lawrence Prempeh, a Management Consultant, as the National Coordinator.
