Ghana Football Association president Kwasi Nyantakyi says he's impressed with the standard of the premier league after ten matchdays.

Nyantakyi, 46, came under constant criticism from a section of Ghanaians before the start of the season after title sponsors Capital Bank pulled out.

But he believes seminars organized to train coaches and referees have brought about improvements.

“I am very impressed with the level of competition in the premier league," Nyantakyi told reporters in Cape Coast.

"It’s very tight, competitive and the organization is also good. You [can] see clubs marketing their matches and more spectators are getting to the stands, and it shows that this year’s league is different.

“The FA has done a lot. We've organised seminars for the clubs and talked a lot about the league. We've trained coaches, referees, marketing officers and all these factors have enhanced the local league,” he added.

Wa All Stars have so far proved to be the surprise package, leading the league log with 20 points, two above giants Hearts of Oak.

Nyantakyi joined Ghana president H.E John Dramani Mahama to commission a newly-built 15,000 capacity stadium in Cape Coast on Tuesday, and Goal understands that it will be used by Ebusua Dwarfs in the second round of the campaign.
