Nurses at Cape Coast Hospital on strike

Cape Coast, May 15, GNA - Nurses at the Cape Coast central regional hospital on Monday embarked on a strike action in demand for a better remuneration.

A source at the hospital told the GNA that the issue is purely a problem between the nurses and management of the hospital whom the nurses are alleging have refused to pay them their approved salary.

The hospital administrator and some representative of the nurses were said to be holding a meeting with the central regional director of health services to resolve the issue, the source said.

Most of the patients the GNA talked to at the hospital said they reported as early as 0800 hours but were not attended to until 1015 hours when they were issued with attendance cards. As at 1215 hours they were yet to be seen by the doctors who have also taken on the job of the nurses.

The GNA discovered that some senior nurses were, however, at post working in the wards.
