Noise Level In Accra Terribly Unbearable

A coordinating director at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly has stated that though one environmental problem in most urban areas is noise pollution with Accra being exceptionally the noisiest.

The need to raise awareness about the impact of noise on public health, and the enforcement of the by-laws on noise control was also outlined to the public. The director representing the regional minister, pointed these facts that during the first Noise Awareness Day, organized by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) Coordinating Director, Mr. Tetteh, mentioned that though there are by-laws meant to control noise making, the enforcement of the laws have not been effective. He said he was hopeful that re-enforcement of the personnel will bring about the needed results. He promised cooperation with the EPA in its quest to combat excessive noise pollution.

Mr. Tetteh called on each citizen to do his or her part to abate noise making.
