NPP likely to perpetuate gargantuan crimes if… - Lecturer

A Political Science Lecturer has stated that if the assertions by the Member of Parliament for the Assin Central, Hon Kennedy Agyapong are anything to go by, then the New Patriotic Party is sure to “perpetuate gargantuan crimes of worse forms, if they come into power”.

Dr. Richard Amoako Baah, Head of the Political Science Department of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) made these comments on NEAT FM, during a discussion on the implications of the claims of Hon. Ken Agyapong.

The NPP MP, last week, bemoaned the fact that campaign materials and monies for the running of the 2012 elections were misspent.

Describing the current party executives as corrupt and a bunch of greedy people whose interest is to simply siphon the party’s resources for their parochial interest and asked that delegates of the opposition NPP vote against all national and constituency executives who are seeking re-election including his party chairman, Jake Obetsebi Lamptey.

He further cited an instance where the party’s National Chairman allegedly misused Ghc100,000 entrusted in his care.

But speaking to the issue, Dr. Baah opined that “if you were unable to deliver these little things that were entrusted in your care by the party, then, it means you would propagate gargantuan crimes if your party comes into government. If that is what they are doing, then they are not going anywhere”.

“And if what Ken Agyapong is saying is true, then he has to continue saying it so that these people would not continue to lead the party”.

The Political Science Lecturer revealed that one of the reasons for the ruling National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) success in general elections since the inception of the Fourth Republic is the fact that “it takes care of its grassroots” and the NPP should therefore take a cue from that.
