NPP Is Bunch Of Criminals -NDC

Members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and admirers of the June 4 revolution last Friday organized a public lecture at the teachers’ hall in Accra. The lecture on the theme “June Fourth’s place in fifty years of Ghana’s independence’, was a prelude to the main showdown of the celebrations which is expected to off today at Somanya in the Eastern region.

Despite his lateness to the programme, the former Deputy Defence Minister Dr. Tony Aidoo otherwise, known as Kwabena Adu Pedie, addressing the gathering fuelled the already stoking flame between his party (NDC), and the Kufuor administration retorting that if Ghanaians were matured, disciplined and had learnt lessons from June fourth revolution they wouldn’t have voted for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), describing them as a bunch of criminals who are just in to gobble on state assets.

“It’s very sad that Ghanaians again voted for these people (NPP) to come and govern us. If they were disciplined they wouldn’t have given them the mandate,” stressing that the time has come to get the NPP out of power.

Taking the Kufuor administration to the cleaners, the former minister again alleged that the government is now interfering and manipulating the judiciary to suit it own interest, hence the prosecution of NDC members including the former first lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings.

Also, Kwabena Aidoo Pedia dwelt on the media accusing it of being in bed with government and that any attempt to hold government officials accountable is met with severe attacks and insults.

“They have managed to have the media at it side (government), and they have encouraged them (Media) to stand up against anybody who criticize them,” adding it amounts to abuse of power.

In a more aggressively manner, Kwabena Aidoo further took a swipe at the Managing Editor of the D. Guide Newspaper Georgina Ama Blay, saying she is more of a killer than journalist.

“I tell you that woman (Gina Blay) has just been planted by them (NPP) to just chase and destroy the opponents of the government. But I can say her efforts is an exercise in futility,’ implying that she is a wolf in sheep’s skin.

Desisting from mentioning names, he warned what Gina Blay and others are doing is ‘Gradually killing the young democracy of the nation.’ Additionally, in a clear contradiction he stated that the NPP in the 2004 elections used foul means in wining the elections, pointing out that it was due to the lackadaisical attitude on the part of the NDC members at that time.

The NDC guru in another attacking move alleged that the government was using means to get the NDC out of the political landscape by painting what ever policy that it implemented ruing it time in office blank, asking which party plot to kill Nkrumah.

Taking the June fourth revolution into account, Dr Tony Aidoo, stated that the event was a massive paradigm shift from a totalitarianism government to a system where all persons no matter their political affiliation to be part of the decision making process of the country, adding it was great relief at that time. He said since the NPP assumed political power in 2000 it has tried it possible best to put the efforts of the persons who fought at the expense of their life to redeem the dieing soul of the country, stressing their efforts will yield no results.

Furthermore, he urged all party members to wage a relentless campaign to wrestle the seat of government from the NPP in the next general elections. And when confronted to throw more light on what he said, he added that, the NDC can assure the Electoral Commission that the Party will not accept the result of the elections in 2008 if ROPAL is implemented.
