NMC names Boards Members for State-Owned Media

The National Media Commission (NMC) on Wednesday appointed Boards of Directors for four state-owned media organisations.

A statement signed by Mr Nutifafa Kuenyehia, Chairman of the NMC, said the appointments were made in consultation with President John Agyekum Kufuor in accordance with Article 168 of Chapter 12 of the 1992 Constitution.

The Ghana News Agency Boards has Mr Rex Owusu Ansah, Former Clerk of Parliament, as Chairman with Dr A.B.K. Anane, a Lawyer; Nanayaa Tina O. Prempeh, Business Executive; Mr Joshua S. Awindor, Information Technologist; Mr Abdulai Musah, Chartered Accountant; Dr Audrey Gadzekpo, Lecturer, School of Communication Studies, University of Ghana, Legon and Mr Robert Kafui Johnson, General Manager of GNA as members.

The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation Board has Dr Stephen Adei, Director-General of Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) as the Chairman.

The members are: Dr Clement B. Somuah, Engineer; Mr George Owusu, Retired Public Servant; Mrs Christabel Dadzie, Retired Director of Legal Services, CHRAJ and President of FIDA; Nana Kobina Nketsia V, Anthropologist and Paramount Chief of Essikado Traditional Area and Mr A.T.D. Okine, Trade Unionist.

The other members are: Mr Kwame Gyasi, Chartered Accountant; Mr John Hammond, Broadcaster and President of Past Broadcasters' Association and Ms Eva Lokko, Director-General of GBC.

The New Times Corporation Board has Professor Kwesi Yankah, of the University of Ghana, Legon as Chairman.

The members are: Squadron Leader Justice de-Graft Ellimah, Engineer and Management Consultant; Dr Baafour Agyeman-Dua, Political Scientist; Mr Eddie Adiin Yansah, Lawyer and Togbe Avudzega Soga, Traditional Ruler.

The other members are: Mrs Genevieve H. Haruna, Chartered Accountant; Mr Gilbert Awinogaya, Trade Unionist; Mr John Derby Amissah-Arthur, Engineer and Nanabayin Pratt, Managing Director of New Times Corporation.

The Graphic Communications Group Limited Board has Professor Kwame Gyekye of the University of Ghana as the Chairman.

The members are: Mr Kafui Asem, Journalist and Public Relations Consultant; Nana Amba Eyiaba, Educationist and Queenmother; Mr Isaac de-Graft Johnson, Engineer, Mr Mike Adjei, Journalist and Mr Ebenezer M. Boye, Chartered Accountant.

The other members are: Mr Michael M. Asigri, Physical Planning Consultant; the Reverend David Dartey, Clergyman and Management Consultant and Mr Berifi Apenteng, Managing Director of Graphic Communications Group.
