NGO donates to the disabled in Bolgatanga

Bolgatanga, Feb. 22, GNA - Agency for Disabled Mission (ADM), a Christian non-governmental organisation (NGO), has donated second hand clothing, leather bags and shoes valued at one million cedis to disabled groups in the Bolgatanga district.

They included the Gbeogo School for the Deaf, Gbeogo Disabled Women's Group, Yariga Disabled Association and Winkogo Disabled Persons Society. The Executive Director of ADM, Rev. Nana Kyei-Baffour, said it was the organisation's contribution to the socio-economic development of the disabled persons.

He said bringing hope, empowerment and development to persons with disabilities is the major concern of the mission, adding that, "when this is done they would be in a position to improve upon their lot".

Mr. Kingsley Osei-Dwomoh, Patron of the Mission commended the Upper East Regional branch of the Ghana Society for the Physically Disabled (GSPD), for taking its members off the street.

He advised the association to cover as many disabled persons as possible and pledged the support of ADM. Mr Thomas Tarzan Nasara, Upper East Regional Chairman of GSPD, thanked the mission for the gesture and appealed to other NGOs and philanthropists to emulate it.

He said the Association has established a training centre in Bolgatanga to help equip members with vocational skills to make them
