NDC plotting to get Konadu disqualified again – Owusu Bempah

The Communications Director of the National Democratic Party (NDP) Ernest Owusu Bempah has accused the ruling NDC party of scheming to get rid of NDP Flagbearer, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings’ name from the ballot paper in the upcoming November Presidential elections.

According to him, the NDC has resorted to all manner of plots to see the former first Lady disqualified from contesting the election just as it happened during the 2012 elections.

The Electoral Commission (EC) less than two months to last general election disqualified Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings after she failed to properly fill out her nomination forms and being caught by the deadline for submission of nomination forms.

E.C officials claimed Mrs Rawlings’ presidential nomination forms were rejected because they were incomplete. Her forms, reportedly, did not contain the requisite number of people from across the country to endorse them.

In other instances, those who endorsed did not sign them. E.C officials will also not accept a situation where NDP leaders allegedly decided to sign on behalf of those from various regions who endorsed her forms but failed to append their signatures.

Speaking to sit-in-host Akwesi Nsiah on Si Me So on Kasapa 102.5 FM, Ernest Owusu Bempah stated that the NDC is pulling all the necessary strings to ensure that Mrs Rawlings’ dream of contesting the presidency is dashed, simply because the party sees the NDP as a party which will be a thorn in its flesh during the elections.

“There are plots by some detractors to get rid of Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings name from the ballot paper just as in 2012 elections. We have all the first-hand information on such plots. When it comes to the elections the ruling NDC cannot stand the NDP in the Volta Region which the ruling party claims is its stronghold. If the NDP goes to the area and campaigns there’s no way the NDC will get the outrageous votes it gets from the region during elections. The NDP is stronger than the NDC in the Volta Region and that is a fact. This time around the NDC will not get the chance to do its dirty work again.” Owusu Bempah fumed.
