NDC asked to accept Agbesi as Ashaiman Candidate.

Tema, May 15, GNA -- Cadres of Ashaiman have in a release appealed to the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party to accept Mr Alfred Kwame Agbesi, a Tema based lawyer as the Parliamentary Candidate for Ashaiman constituency for the impending Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

The release said Lawyer Agbesi has distinguished himself among others in the eyes of the party as the winner of the NDC in the constituency. The release which was addressed to the NDC General Secretary was signed by 20 executive members of the cadres and copied to the press, Tema Municipal Chief

Executive, the Ashaiman constituency chairman and the NDC Press Secretary. It stated:''The cadres are advocating lawyer Agbesi on the grounds of ''strategic farsightedness'' and warned that ''to forestall the re-enactment of the 1996 political drama which nearly tore the party apart in the constituency anything short of our demand may bring unfavourable results''.

The release hoped the party would not fail them as was done in 1996 and that ''we compromised but his time we shall not in anyway''.
