My injury paved way for Baba Rahman at Kotoko - Gideon Baah

Ghana defender Gideon Baah has revealed an injury he sustained at Kotoko paved way for his former teammate Abdul Baba Rahman during their time with the Porcupine Warriors.

Baah suffered a career threatening injury during a League match with Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium in 2010, an injury which kept the 23-year-old out of action for almost a year.

The long-term injury on the defender forced Kotoko to bring in Abdul Baba Rahman from then lower division side Dreams FC who fitted in perfectly for Baah.

The New York Red Bulls man in an interview with the Guardian says his setback opened the way for his compatriot at Kotoko.

“At the time he [Baba] came, I was injured,” Baah said. “I had a fractured tibia and fibula. I was out for almost a year, and they tried to find my replacement. They found Baba Rahman, and the rest as they say is history.”

Unlike Gideon Baah, Baba Rahman has come out to be a regular member of the Black Stars team.
