Muted Jubilation Revived

Supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have started jubilating even before the Electoral Commission (EC) declared results from the Tain constituency runoff. After monitoring results from polling stations through the media and upon relising the figuers were in their favour, NDC supporters throng the streets of the regional capitals of the three Northern regions namely Tamale, Bolgatanga and Wa amidst tooting of motorbike and car horns while beckoning the ¡yeresesemu¢ (change) gesture. Others could also be seen around their homes partaking in the elation.

The supporters had earlier gotten disappointed and had to cut short their jubilation when the EC announced Tain constituency the decider of the elections.

Meanwhile, to forestall any untoward action, the regional security continued to keep ample security especially in the Tamale metropolis, regional capital of the Northern region. A joint police cum military team have been deployed at vantage points of the city while some patrol the streets in armored and other vehicles as the ¡Akatamansonnians¢ (NDC supporters) go about their jubilation.

The Tain constituency is the final decider of the presidential runoff due to the area¢s inability to be part of the earlier exercise on January 2.
