Minister appeals for support to celebrate region's anniversary

Bolgatanga, Aug 17, GNA - Mrs Lucy Awuni, the Upper East Deputy Regional Minister, has appealed to co-operate bodies operating in the Region and beyond to support the Region to celebrate its 50th anniversary scheduled for September.

She said this during the opening of a new office for TIGO, one of the telecommunications networks, in Bolgatanga.

Mrs Awuni said the Regional Coordinating Council needed support and appealed to cooperate bodies including TIGO to put the Region on their co-operate Social Responsibility Agenda to enable it to have a successful 50th anniversary celebration.

She commended management of TIGO for opening an office in the Region and said it would boost not only technological advancement but would also help increase financial and business transactions in the area.

Mrs Awuni appealed to the Management of TIGO to be more innovative and to develop appropriate products that would meet the needs of majority of the population.

The Territorial Manager of TIGO, Mr Anthony Dadzie, said the establishment of the office in the Region would enable his outfit to render effective services to the public.

He said TIGO was in partnership with the National Youth Employment Scheme, to generate jobs for the youth in the region and country as a whole.
