Military promises vigilance at Jubilee Oil Fields

Apremdo(W/R), Dec. 20, GNA 97 The Commanding Officer of the Second Infantry Battalion, Lieutenant-Colonel Albert Dawohoso, has assured Ghanaians and the oil companies operating at the Jubilee Oil Fields of the Unit's readiness to provide security in the oil fields. He said this at the West African Soldiers Social Activity (WASSA) at the Myohaung Barracks at Apremdo.

Lt-Col Dawohoso said the need for professional and matured soldiers ha= d never been greater than now and it was important that troops are well trained to be ready at all times to undertake very difficult tasks. He urged the soldiers to review their performance over the year, reconcile their strengths and weaknesses and forge ahead in the coming year= .. Lt-Col Dawohoso commended soldiers for distinguishing themselves and their continued dedication, loyalty and discipline in spite of the challenges they encountered.

He said the unit had instituted Myohaung Education fund to support brilliant students in the Unit's basic schools and appealed to corporate organizations to contribute to the fund. Lt-Col Dawohoso presented GHc500 cheque to each of four students of th= e Unit's basic schools for excelling in the Basic Education Certificate Examination. They are Kodu Brace, Afful Anthony, Boakye Nartey Clement and Philip Amihere. He also presented gifts to 52 retirees of the Unit for their loyalty, dedication and commitment during their active service.
