Mayor of US city to visit Ghana

Accra, Feb. 7, GNA - Mr Tim Naugle, Mayor of the City of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA, will lead a 20-man delegation to Ghana on February 23 to take part in the Ghana@50 independence celebration. The delegation is made up of investors and businessmen, the President of Florida League of Cities, Director of International Affairs for Broward County's Office of Economic Development and members of the Ghana-American Chamber of Commerce.

A statement issued in Accra on Wednesday said the delegation was coming to Ghana at the invitation of Nana Akuoko Sarpong, Omanhene of Agogo Traditional Area and Mr Prince Kwame Kludjeson, Ghana's President of the Sister-cities International.

It said while in Ghana Mr Naugle would formalize the Sister-Cities Twinning arrangement with the Agogo Traditional Council and open the Agogo Information Technology Centre built by the Citrix Corporation of the USA and supported by Sister-Cities International.

The delegation would also visit the US Embassy and tour the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, Ministry of Aviation, including the Kotoka International Airport, as well as other ministries.

The delegation would round off its activities by sponsoring a special dinner/reception in honour of Ghana's 50th anniversary during which members of the delegation will interact with top government, regional and municipal officers.
