Award-winning journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni has come under heavy criticisms over his thoughts on President Nana Akufo-Addo's address to the nation on the Ghana-US military agreement.

President Akufo-Addo, on Thursday, broke his silence on the US-Ghana agreement, which has provoked public condemnation and outrage.

While assuring that there will be no US military base in Ghana, President Akufo-Addo accused opposition politicians of criticising the very agreement they had signed when they were in power.

Immediately after the president's speech, Manasseh, who is known to have fiercely protested against the whole agreement took to Facebook to state that President Akufo-Addo's statement was only rhetoric and innuendos without substance.

"Brofo ne akutia nkoa. Aba biara nnim!", he posted in Twi.

As if to hit home his point, Manasseh came back just about an hour later to translate his position into English saying "QUOTE ME WELL! I said the speech was empty, lacked substance."

The award-winning journalist's comment has, however, caused him a lot of backlash on social media as many deemed it as an 'insult' to the president.

A lot of Facebook users who reacted to Manasseh's comment blatantly insulted him in 'retaliation'.

Bernice was so infuriated that she described Manasseh as lacking common sense.

Mildred initially said she was tired of Manasseh's 'too knowing' attitude.

And she came back with the most savage of all the attacks saying Manasseh's face looked like "dades3n", a locally made cooking utensil.

Freddy thought Manasseh was overhyped.

Kofi felt it was better to unfollow journalists like Manasseh.
