Mahama is a serial liar, he must apologise to Ghanaians – Abronye

Bono Regional Party Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Kwame Baffoe Bonney popularly referred to as Abronye DC has described former President, John Dramani Mahama, as a serial liar whose words must not be taken seriously.

This comes after former president Mahama made allegations that the ruling New Patriotic Party is training thugs at Asutuare ahead of the 2020 general elections.

Reacting to the issue, the outspoken Regional Chairman said claims by the former president that party thugs are being trained in batches at Asutuare to cause mayhem during the 2020 general elections are without bases or evidence.

“The whole issue about training of thugs at Asutuare was brought about by none other than former President John Dramani Mahama. He and the NDC has a history, recently after the Ayawaso by-elections, they met foreign diplomats to tell them about the violence that happened. Eventually, it came out that the video used by the former president as evidence in his presentation to the diplomats was ladened with lies.”

He made this statement on Thursday's edition of Peace FM’s Kokrokoo morning show.

According to Abronye, the former president’s claims makes him a serial liar because he has no evidence or whatsoever to back his assertions. He, therefore, admonished Mahama to render an apology for "lying" to Ghanaians.

“The video he presented to the diplomats has been proven to be unfactual and he is yet to apologise for it. He has brought up another issue that thugs are being trained and his parties’ communication officer released a statement saying they have evidence to that effect. But the question remains as to whether they are not bringing fake videos like he did in the Ayawaso incident.”

He indicated that the NDC is rather the party known for violence. He cited a shooting incident at the NDC’s regional office in the Ashanti Region which resulted in the death of a party member, saying the incident happened just a month after the former president boasted of his parties’ history in violence.

He further compared the level of insecurity within the NDC to that of Iraq.

Former President John Dramani Mahama during an interaction with some members of the Ghana Journalist Association alleged that the New Patriotic Party is training thugs in combating to cause mayhem during the 2020 general elections.

“I remember at the time of Ayawaso West Wuogon, there was a letter that came out asking party executives to bring able-bodied people to be trained as security. Since then, we have evidence that those people have been to Asutuare and trained in batches over and over again in all kinds of combat techniques and other things.”

The former president said he is worried the government is preparing to cause havoc during the 2020 elections.
