MPs Complain Of Inadequate Resources

...and Poor Conditions of Sevice

Members of Parliament have demanded adequate resources and better conditions of service to enable them discharge their duties effectively. According to the MPs, unlike members of the executive and the judiciary who are comparatively better resourced, parliamentarians face many constraints such as lack of office accommodation

both at parliament house and in their constituencies, inadequate transport facilities at the office of parliament as well as poor salaries. The MPs expressed these sentiments during the motion for the approval of the 2007 budgetary allocation for the office of Parliament.

Hon. Balado Manu, NPP MP for Ahafo Ano South and Hon. Alfred Agbeshie NDC MP for Ashaiman spoke bitterly about the plight of MPs and called for immediate steps to be taken to address the situation.
