Law Students to celebrate 44th Law Week

The Annual Law Week of the students of the Ghana School of Law (GSL) will be held between Sunday 2nd March and Saturday 8th March, 2003.

A release from the School said the theme for the celebration is “Accommodation: a Critical Factor in the Provision of Quality Legal Education in Ghana”.

The release said the opening ceremony is on Monday, 3rd March, 2003 at the School. Among important personalities who have been invited to grace the occasion with their presence are the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Peter Ala Adjetey, his lordship, the Chief Justice, Justice E.K. Wiredu, Mr. B.J da Rocha, a former Director of the Ghana School of Law and Hon. Nana Akufo-Addo, Attorney-General and Minister of Justice.

A seminar on the topic “Challenges of Freedom of expression: the aftermath of the repeal of the Criminal Libel Laws” will also be held at the school on 4th March. The panel will be composed of Mrs. Gifty Affenyi-Dadzi, (GJA President) and Mr. Yoni Kulendi, a private legal practitioner.

On 5th March, a Moot Court based on domestic violence will be held in the Chief Justice’s Court at the Supreme Court. The competition is between students of the Ghana School of Law and those from the Faculty of Law, University of Ghana, Legon.
