Laurent Gbagbo arrives for AU summit

APA - Accra (Ghana) In spite of the shooting incident in Bouake on Friday, where the Prime Minister Guillaume Soro’s plane was the target of a rocket attack, the Ivorian President Laurent Gbagbo arrived in Accra on Sunday to take part in the ninth ordinary summit of the African Union (AU), APA observed here.

Shortly upon arrival, Laurent Gbagbo joined his peers and is expected to renew appeal for the UA’s support for the ongoing peace process in Cote d’Ivoire.

The international community has vehemently condemned the attempt on Soro’s life in his former rebel headquarter town.

The AU Executive Council which is comprised of foreign ministers ended its deliberations late on Saturday in Accra with among other things, a declaration on the Ivorian crisis.

AU leaders are examining the document in their retreat.
