Latex Foam, Ashok Mohinani win Made in Ghana award

Thirty local companies were last Friday honoured for their consistency in producing premium quality products for the market.

At the third edition of the Made in Ghana Awards held in Accra, Latex Foam prestige pocketed spring mattress was adjudged the Overall product of the year 2015 for its outstanding manufacturing of quality spring mattress.

The mattress is divided into 5 zones,each of a different type of spring, providing total support for body’s pressure points and a layer of high resilient foam is fitted at the surface, enabling the mattress to mold to your body at the highest precision, while Mr.Ashok Ramchand Mohinani ,the Executive Director of Mohinani Group of Companies was adjudged the Industrialist of the Year 2015. As Executive Director of the Group in Ghana he has led the expansion of the Group’s manufacturing operations in the country. The manufacturing companies include Poly Products, Poly Sacks Poly Tanks, Poly Kraft and Sonnex Packaging & Plastics.

The event, which is an initiative of the Entrepreneurs Foundation of Ghana (EFG), is being organised under the auspices of the ministries of Trade and Industry and Finance, with support from the Ghana Standards Authority on the theme, “Nationalism, the key to social and economic development”.

Twenty five of the premium quality products and service organizations were inducted into the prestigious “Made in Ghana Hall of Fame”, while another five received awards as “Made in Ghana” Products and Services of the Year’ for their exceptional contribution to the development of the private sector in creating economic and social values.

The ‘Made in Ghana Awards’ is basically to honour locally made products and wholly Ghanaian owned and foreign service industries which have exhibited excellence in premium products and service quality over the years.

“The key objective of the awards is a campaign to provide the platform for Ghanaian consumers to patronise Ghanaian made products and also encourage local service industries to make significant improvements in service quality, service delivery and innovation to meet the challenges of international standards.”
