Land feud: Samira Bawumia's brother ignored Kufuor's mediation - Kennedy Agyapong's brother speaks

Ghanaian businessman and financier of the New Patriotic Party, George Oti Bonsu, has provided more details about happenings before the demolition of his buildings in Accra allegedly by Abu Ramadan, a relative of second lady, Samira Bawumia.

According to him, former President John Agyekum Kufuor intervened and made efforts to resolve the issue amicably but Abu Ramadan ignored his intervention.

Kennedy Agyapong's brother, who made these claims in an interview with Accra-based Okay FM, on April 24, 2024, said Kufuor, through Fred Oware, a campaign advisor of New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, tried mediating the impasse but his efforts were rendered unsuccessful by Abu Ramadan.

He alleged that Fred Oware, acting on the instructions of John Kufuor, called on Abu Ramadan to exercise patience but his call was not heeded by the second lady's brother.

“I went to speak to President Kufuor about this and he said it was not ideal for us to be washing our dirty linen in public. So, he (ex-President Kufuor) called Fred Oware and told him what was going on and said they could not call the vice president because he was travelling to South Africa.

“So, I left President Kufuor's house and went to meet Fred Oware at his office close to the Alisa Hotel. We met him (Fred Oware) and told him everything and he said he would call Abu Ramadan because he (Abu Ramadan) was fronting for his sister (Samira Bawumia),” he narrated in Twi.

Oti Bonsu said that after Fred Oware got in touch with Abu Ramadan, he (Ramadan) told him (Oware) that their father bought the said land when he was an officer of the Ghana Police Service.

He added that the vice president’s campaign advisor invited Abu Ramadan for a meeting but two days after the invitation, his properties were demolished.

“Fred told him that we should meet and he (Ramadan) asked what was there to discuss again. And Fred told him that ‘an elder has brought an issue before me and so I have to go and give him a response. So, we have to meet and discuss the issue so I would know the feedback to give him.'

“Abu Ramadan said he was going to see his father and Fred Oware would hear from him after he meets his father. It was two days after this that they demolished the buildings,” he said.
