The Graphic reports in its main front page story that two men suspected to be members of a gang which issues fake local and international driving licences in Accra, have been arrested by the Police Striking Force. The men Kojo Asaase, 46, and William Palmer, 33, were arrested last Friday at a barber's shop behind the offices of the Vehicle Examination and Licensing Division (VELD) of the Ministry of Roads and Transport, following a tip-off. When they were searched, 13 different stamps, international and local driving licence booklets and various forms, were found on them. The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) E.M. Amamoo, in-charge of the Striking Force, said the suspects will be put before court after investigations. GRI

"Take advantage of investment climate - Annan", is the headline of another front page story in the Graphic which says the Speaker of Parliament, Mr. Justice Daniel Francis Annan, has asked 90 American investors now in the country to take advantage of the prevailing peace and stability in Ghana and invest in the various sectors of the county's economy. Mr. Justice Annan said Ghana as a pace-setter in Africa, has set itself the target of ensuring that democracy thrives to enable her to take off economically. The Graphic says the American visiting investors made up of various professionals, flew in from Johannesburg, South Africa, as part of exploration for areas to invest. According to the paper, the team, which arrived in a private jet, has already visited Cape Coast, the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum and the National Museum, both in Accra. GRI

In a centre spread story the Graphic reports that the Japanese Government has donated 4.8 million doses of oral polio vaccines valued at 1,820,000 dollars towards the National Immunization Day (NID) against polio which will be held on Saturday November 8 and December 13, this year. The Graphic says during the NID, 3.6 million children aged zero to five years are expected to be immunized. The paper says 72,000 health personnel and volunteers, will participate in this effort to eradicate polio from the country. The programme manager of the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) and Diarrhoeal Diseases, Dr. Cornelia Afi Atsyor, who received the vaccines, said the target this year is to immunize 98 per cent of the children within the age group. Dr. Atsyor, the Graphic says, disclosed that 86 per cent and 96 per cent coverage was achieved last year after the first and second NIDs respectively. GRI
