Kufuor back from Abuja

Accra. Nov. 13, GNA - President John Agyekum Kufuor returned home on Sunday from Abuja, Nigeria, where he attended a regional conference on the future of the African Union.

Nana Akuffo Addo, Foreign Minister, accompanied him.

Other leaders that attended the conference include the host, President Olusegun Obasanjo, the head of state of Ethiopia, Melezi Zenewi, South Africa Thabo Mbeki, Abdoulai Wade of Senegal, as well as the representative of the Algerian president.

Nana Akuffo Addo told journalists at the airport that leaders discussed the aftermath of the Liberian elections and urged Liberians to act responsibly by seeking legal and constitutional means to resolve any issue that might have arisen from the conduct of the election. He said the leaders noted that the international community has invested a lot to achieve peace in Liberia after 14 years of civil war and there was the need for peace to be safeguarded.

According to the Foreign Minister, the leaders discussed the prospect of setting up the achievement of a united Africa.

President Kufuor also delivered a lecture at the Nigerian War College on "Global Security, a Shared Responsibility". He said President Kufuor is the fourth head of state to address the prestigious Nigerian College.
