Kofi Wayo Salutes Rawlings

> The leader of the United Renaissance Party, URP, Mr. Kofi Wayo has praised former President Rawlings for not joining President Kufuor in the Independence Day celebration.

According to the URP leader, by his act, Rawlings has demonstrated that he was a man of principles, a man of conviction and a man with a conscience. He said it was such qualities that African leaders need to move the continent forward.

Speaking on an Accra-based radio station last Friday, Wayo also wondered how some Ghanaians could go cheer Kufuor at the Independence Square when they did not have access to portable drinking water. He said when whites see blacks praising their Presidents to the high hilt, in spite of the pain these Presidents have and continue to inflict on them, they begin to wonder whether blacks are normal.

He has consistently taken swipes at the Kufuor government for failing to provide many Ghanaians with portable drinking water, preferring to live ostentatious life-styles amidst a sea of poverty.
