Kasoa Gets Sanitation Task Force

Kasoa(C/R) - A 19-member sanitation task force was inaugurated at Kasoa in the Awutu-Effutu-Senya district of the Central Region yesterday, with Mr Jimah Busani, sanitary officer, as chairman. The group, established at the instance of the regional minister, Mr Kojo Yankah, will among others, see to it that Kasoa, being the gateway to the Central and Western parts of the country, is kept tidy at all times. Mr Yankah has also directed the Awutu-Effutu-Senya district assembly to fence both sides of the stretch of the highway covering the Kasoa market area to protect pedestrians. In an address, Lieutenant William Daniel Osardu, District Chief Executive for the area, charged members of the task force to work tirelessly to improve sanitation in the area. He announced that similar committees would be set up in all major towns in the district to safeguard the health of the people. Alhaji Baba Lamin Abu-Sadat, MP for Awutu/Senya, advised members of the task force to consider their call as a national one and put in their maximum to meet the expectations of the regional minister and the district assembly. The MP appealed to the district assembly to provide the task force with the tools to work. Mr Francis Boateng, District Co-ordinating Director, and Mr J. C. Aryeetey, District Health Superintendent, charged the committee to educate the people on the functions of the task force, as well as the sanitation laws of the country.
