KNUST extends academic calendar

` Kumasi, Oct 28, GNA - Authorities of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) had extended the first semester calendar of the 2010/11 academic year by 10 days. This is to make up for time lost through the recent three-week walk out by the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) to press for unpaid allowances.

Mr Solomon Panford of the University Relations Office (URO) told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the Academic Board on Wednesday. He said the extension has resulted in complete change in the programmes for the semester, explaining that, mid-semester examination had been re-scheduled for November 1-5.

The first semester examinations now take place from December 6-20, while auditing of examination results would be held from January 31 to February 4, 2011.

Mr Panford said the special academic board meeting to evaluate the examination results would take place in March, next year.
