KNUST Alumni donates to TEWU

Koforidua, May 3, GNA - The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Alumni branch of District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia in the US on Tuesday donated used clothing to the Tertiary Education Workers Union (TEWU) of the University in Kumasi. Presenting the items the President of the Association, Mr Kwaku Boateng, said the donation aimed at showing appreciation to what they had benefited from their alma mater.

He said the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia branch, which is a subsidiary of the North America KNUST Alumni, intended to furnish various departments of the university with audio-visual communication gadgets to facilitate teaching and learning.

Mr Boateng said the branch was the most vibrant of all the Ghanaian alumni branches of the university in the Diaspora. He said although the branch was only two years old, it could boast of about 350 members. Mr Boateng said their dynamism was recently recognized when they were chosen to host the biennial KNUST National Convention of Alumni slated for July 04. Receiving the donation, Mr Paul Manu, Chairman of the union, thanked the association and expressed the hope that it would be the beginning of greater partnership between the university and the alumni body as a whole.
