KMA's Revenue Base Soars .. bags ?13bn

THE KUMASI Metropolitan Assembly's (KMA) internally-generated revenue has improved considerably over the last two years.

Last year the assembly generated ?13billion down from ?7billion, nearly a 100% increase recorded over what was recorded in 2001. It mobilized only ?3.6billion in 2000.

The Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), Mr. Maxwell Jumah, made these disclosures in his Sessional address at the first ordinary meeting of the Third World Assembly in Kumasi.

He said the maximization of revenue generation is the administration's major priority since the financial status of the assembly is a determining factor for the successful implementation of the programmes.

The KMA reiterated that the need for the assembly to plug the loopholes in the revenue net and endeavour to collect from all sources.

"We must expand our net to cover everybody in the city," he stressed. Jumah has consequently declared that the assembly's major pre-occupation, this year, will be to improve the revenue generating capabilities.
