Italian giants AC Milan are very close to sealing the deal to bring Ghana midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng back to the Serie A, insiders have told Ghana's leading football news outfit GHANAsoccernet.com.

This comes after AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani met with Boateng's agent Federico Pastorello on Friday to agree a deal for the deal to happen.

Boateng has got six months left on his contract with the German Bundesliga side but they are keen on getting him off their wage bill which means he will join AC Milan for free if a deal is agreed.

With the two sides agreeing to the outlines of the deal and coach Sisnisa Mihajlovic approving his arrival, there is little left to discuss.

This now clears the way for a formal proposal from AC Milan over his personal terms before his contract with Schalke is cancelled.

"We have taken an important first step and now we look to end the agreement with Schalke in the next few days," Pastorello told MilanNews.

"Once that is done, we will find an agreement with Milan. The coach has confirmed that he wants him and that was the most important thing to have the okay from the coach, who had to make a decision.

"He has a great desire to do well and make a contribution and he will be very useful to the coach.

"Kevin has a great desire for redemption after some difficult months and he wants to also repay the faith that Milan have shown in him."

A deal with AC Milan will formally end his relationship with Schalke with no financial benefits to Schalke in the transfer.

Boateng's first spell with AC MIlan saw him play at San Siro between 2010 and 2013, winning Serie A in his first season.
