JAK Cancels Trip To UK

A scheduled trip abroad to Britain by President Kufuor has been cancelled. The trip was planned as a state visit during which President Kufuor would have called on the British Monarchy, Queen Elizabeth.

The president was also expected to attend an NPP fund-raising Dinner organized by the NEW PATRIOTIC PARTY UK & IRELAND BRANCH. The event would have taken place on Saturday, 22nd March 2003 at the Savoy Hotel London.

According to JOY FM, the trip was cancelled due to fears of a looming war. Britain has been at the forefront of a declaration of a US-led war on Iraq and Presidential aides are unwilling to take chances with the life of the President. The President was supposed to have left on Monday night.
