Investment Fair Opens At Apam

Apam (Central Region) 1 Oct.,

Mr Kojo Yankah, Central Regional Minister, has spoken of the Region's enormous untapped resources and said mini fairs would enable each district to show its investment potentials. Mr Yankah was opening a week-long investment fair organized by the Gomoa District Assembly on the theme ''towards a sustainable accelerated and integrated development of the Central Region'' at Apam yesterday. The fair, which has attracted 40 participants, is the second to be organized in the region to herald the ''Central Expo '98'' scheduled for August next year in Cape Coast. The mini-fair focuses on manufacturing, agro-processing, tourism, agricultural production and handicrafts. In an address read for him, Mr Yankah advised district assemblies to ensure that the ''common fund is solely used to finance development projects and work within the limit of their income''. Mrs Ama Benyiwa-Doe, Member of Parliament for Gomoa west, urged the people to convert the numerous raw materials in the district into finished products to improve their economic base.
