I will always uphold the truth - Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has given the assurance that he would always in his life as President of Ghana uphold the truth in consonance with the motto of the Commonwealth Hall of the University of Ghana.

He said: "The motto of the Commonwealth Hall is "Truth Holds" and with that orientation, I will always use that to guide me in my daily work as the President of this land."

President Mahama stated this when Council of Elders of the Commonwealth Hall of the University of Ghana called on him at the Flagstaff House, Kanda on Friday.

The group was at the Presidency to congratulate President Mahama on his victory in the election petition’s verdict and to throw their support for him in his administration in the years to come.

Prominent among the Council of Elders were Dasebere Dr. Oti Boateng, Paramount Chief of the New Juaben Traditional Area and Alhaji Razak El-Alawa, a veteran Journalist and Chairman of the Council.

President Mahama called on all Ghanaians to throw the rifts and arguments that existed during the election petition behind and foster unity for the socio-economic development of the country.

He renewed his commitment to work with all Ghanaians that were ready to share their expertise and experiences with his government irrespective of their geographical location, religious, ethnic or political affiliations.

He added: "I am ready to work with all Ghanaians for development irrespective of where they are coming from."

He said the election petition tested the political institutions of the country and his administration would continue to support the Electoral Commission to carry out reforms, where necessary to achieve the constitutional demands of all Ghanaians.

Dasebere Oti Boateng appealed to President Mahama to resist all kinds of injustices in the country by executing his duties with objectivity and honesty for the benefit of all.

Alhaji El-Alawa pledged that the Council and all Vandals throughout the country would continue to support him as their "hall member" to succeed in political endeavors.
