I haven’t embezzled NPP cash – Bugri Naabu

The Northern regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party Daniel Bugri Naabu has rubbished claims that he has embezzled monies meant for party activities in the region.

Reports are rife that the outspoken chairman has seized some GHC50, 000.00 sent to the region from the national headquarters for party operations ahead of the November polls.

But in a statement Monday, Bugri Naabu described the reports as malicious and wicked and urged party sympathizers to disregard them.

"Firstly, I have not granted any interview nor told any media house "to go and collect GHc5 million from Mr Blay. Secondly I have not instructed nor written to demand closure of the party's regional secretariat. Thirdly I have not spent GHC50,000 given by the party on the repair of my vehicle," portions of the statement read.

Below are details of the statement by Bugri Naabu

In my routine rounds of my constituencies in the Mamprugu enclave, my attention was drawn to wicked and malicious stories on various news portals and social media concerning my person and the party.

The stories appear to be making three specific allegations and I wish to straighten issues as follows;

Firstly, I have not granted any interview nor told any media house "to go and collect GHc5 million from Mr Blay".

Secondly I have not instructed nor written to demand closure of the party's regional secretariat.

Thirdly I have not spent GHC50,000 given by the party on the repair of my vehicle.

I left for a tour of some constituencies after the successful inauguration of the regional campaign team supervised by the Ag. General Secretary on Saturday 20/02/16 and to have been followed by these wild allegations could only be an attempted setback on the party's commitment to shore up the fortunes of the party in the region.

I wish to entreat the teeming followers and sympathisers of our great party in the region and beyond to expect more these stories but remain resolute and committed behind the leadership of the party to pursue the objective of the party.

I encourage all not to hesitate to contact me and my executives to clarify issues and or contribute to the drive of the party.

I entreat all and sundry to disregard the malicious stories against my person and the party.
