I can pray for Aboadze Thermal Plant to work – Pastor

A Christian priest has rubbished government’s commitment to fulfill a wish of the chiefs and people of Aboadze to have rituals performed in order to get the Takoardi Thermal 3 Plant in Aboadze working again. The rituals are meant to pacify the gods and ancestors of Aboadze.

However, Pastor Emmanuel Nartey, the Head Pastor of the Rock of Jesus Ministry, says it was unnecessary for government to accept to fulfil the wish of the chiefs of Aboadze especially when the country professes to be a Christian nation.

Speaking on TV3’s Midday Live on Friday, December 13, 2013, Pastor Nartey asked government to allow him to offer prayers rather to get the 132MW-generating plant working again.

The Aboadze Thermal Plant exploded in July this year and since then authorities have engaged in blame game as to whose responsibility it is to repair the plant. Already, an independent committee has been set up to look into the cause of the explosion.

However, the chiefs of Aboadze last week blamed the inertia of the machines on anger of the ancestors and gods of the land.

Minister of Energy and Petroleum Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah has, therefore, assured that the demands of the chiefs will be met and on top of the rituals being performed, compensation will be duly given.

But Pastor Nartey said such a move is wrong and all he needs is a means of transport to the plant to pray to exorcise the plant of the anger of the gods and ancestors.
