A National Democratic Congress parliamentary hopeful for the Madina constituency Francis Xavier Sosu says he is best placed to formulate better laws for the constituency if elected.

Sosu, a Human Rights Lawyer is battling incumbent Amadu Sorogho who is seeking a third term as MP for Madina and a Businessman known as Rahim Aremeyaw.

Speaking on Starr Today Monday, Sosu said Madina residents need someone of his caliber who understands laws to help transform the constituency.

“I can make better laws, I am the lawyer amongst all the contestants and I understand the laws, I work with the laws and can make better laws for Madina,” Sosu told host Bernard Nassara.

But incumbent MP Sorogho said his achievements in the constituency will aid him to secure a third term.

According to Sorogho, becoming a lawyer does not necessarily mean that one can become a good lawmaker adding that some of the best parliamentarians in Ghana’s law chamber are not lawyers.

Sorogho said he has championed the first hospital to be built in the constituency and has led the economic transformation for Madina.

Sorogho said he secured scholarship for over 2000 students in the constituency ranging from University to technical education.

He added he has suffered to earn the seat and wants the constituents to retain him.

“Some people haven’t suffered for this…but I have suffered to get the seat but they didn’t suffer and so if the seat leaves [the party] they don’t care but I have suffered with various executives for this seat”.
