Hospitaltakes measures to boost staff morale

The Tema General Hospital (TGH) has set aside a five million cedi revolvingfund for loans to the staff, Dr John Amable, surgical specialistin charge of the hospital said at an end of year party for the staff on Sunday. The hospital has also started serving tea to workers on night duties, he saidand explained that these are measures to boost the morale of the staff. He commended the staff for contributing money themselves to start a project whichinclude a canteen, a store and a conference hall and appealed to the public and the government to assist them to complete the project by next year. Dr Amable said anaemia is the number one cause of deaths at the hospital whilemalaria remain the major cause of hospital attendance. Attendance at the out patient department is decreasing while admission increases because patients visit other private clinics in town. According to him 982 people died of AIDS at the hospital this year as against 865 last year.
