Head of the Civil Service solicits for ideas

Accra June 24, GNA - Dr Alex Glover-Quartey, Head of the Civil Service, on Thursday, solicited for ideas to transform the image of the Service.

"If we don't tackle the problems of the Civil Service and find solutions to them, this country can not move forward. I want to see a real change in the way people see the Civil service," he said. Dr Glover was speaking during a meeting with Chief Directors and heads of department, of the various ministries and departments, under the Service, in Accra.

Dr Glover-Quartey called on civil servants to take advantage of programmes designed to reform the Service. He expressed the need for an upward adjustment of salaries of civil servants and tasked the chief directors, to bring suggestions on the issue.

Dr Glover asked directors to submit their scheme of service by July 15, this year, as part of efforts to improve on conditions of service. " We will start looking out for sanctions against heads that fail to react to our directives," he warned.

The meeting was part of the week- long celebration of the Civil Service Week.
