Greater Accra CPP supports neutrality position of Central Committee

Accra, Dec. 23, GNA - The Greater Accra Region Steering Committee of the Convention People's Party (CPP) has thrown its weight behind its Central Committee for not supporting any of the parties contesting Sunday December 28 2008 Presidential Election Runoff.

It said in a statement issued in Accra on Tuesday that having carefully studied the issues that informed the Central Committee's decision, it was urging all elected and appointed officers in the Region to respect and abide by the decision of "positive neutrality". The statement was signed by Susan Adu-Amankwa, Regional Chairman and Jonathan Attoh, Regional Secretary.

It said: "The Regional Steering Committee trusts that in taking a neutral position in this runoff, the CPP will objectively critique any future government without any contradictions. The (Committee) believes that the CPP is a unique and distinct alternative for the people of Ghana and remains committed to offering the people of Ghana a choice and real hope."

The Regional Executives urged members of the party and all Ghanaians to turn out massively to make their personal choices as to which of the two candidates best represented the interest of Ghanaians and their aspirations. "We pray that Ghanaians will choose a man whose attitude, public conduct and credentials befit our beloved country," the statement said. 23 Dec. 08
