Graphic: MOH fights mortality rate of diebetic patients

In the story the Grpahic reports that the Ministry of Health has put in plac e measures to reduce mortality, morbidity and suffering associated with diabetes. The measures, include regular routine urine test on first being seen at any institution at the district level and regular periodic urine tests for over 40-year olds. Dr Eunine Brookman-Amissah, Minister of Health who announced this at the launch of this year's "Diabetes Awareness Month," held in Accra said this is to help in the early diagnosis of the dieases. The Ministry, she said has also supported a population-based research aimed at determining the extent of the disease and some of its determinants. Apart from this, she said, two teams, each comprising a physician, a nurse and a dietician from the Korle-Bu and Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospitals have been trained in diabete management. These teams, in turn have trained regional teams from all over the regions who are also in the process of training district teams, the Graphic said.
