Govt pays outstanding workmen's compensation

Accra, Aug. 26, GNA - Government has released 2.4 billion cedis to the Ministry of Manpower Development and Employment for the payment of outstanding workmen's compensation.

The amount is to be distributed by the Labour Department of the Ministry to 338 injured public servants, who qualify to be compensated in accordance with the Workmen's Compensation Law.

A statement issued signed by Mr Kwamina Sakyi, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry, said the release of the money is to demonstrate government's concern for the well being of workers and to help build their trust and confidence in the Executive.

The statement noted that efforts are underway to pay any other outstanding workmen's compensation as soon as possible. 26 Aug. 03
