Govt To Legalize VoIP

The controversy on the use of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) will soon be laid to rest as government has declared its intention to legalise it.

The National Communications Authority (NCA) is therefore expected to make the necessary regulations in order that it will not negate the Universal Access Obligation of the traditional Public Switch Telephone Network (PSTN).

Communications and Technology Minister, Mr. Felix Owusu Adjapong, announced this at the opening of a regional workshop to review the findings of the ECOWAS study on Telecommunications Regulatory Frameworks Harmonisation in Accra on Monday.

He said with legislation, VolP use would be cheaper and more efficient.
