Government votes 25 billion cedis for NCCE

Bolgatanga, May 02, GNA - The government has voted 25 billion cedis for the National Commission For Civic Education (NCCE). The Upper East Regional Director of the NCCE, Mr Sulemana Haruna, said this when he held a press conference in Bolgatanga at the weekend to highlight some of the activities for the constitutional week celebration in the region.

Mr Haruna said plans being embarked upon by the Upper East Directorate of NCCE were in line with the theme for the celebration that is, " Local Participation in Governance And Social Auditing for Poverty Reduction".

He said the NCCE would undertake education to equip the citizenry with knowledge and skills that would enable them to act as social auditors in a manner that would help address poverty, increase women's participation in the decision-making process. Mr Haruna said the Upper East Directorate of the NCCE had chalked successes and that it was the first region to constitute an inter-party dialogue committee.

It has organised a number of debates, anti-corruption and domestic violence campaigns, revenue mobilization and sanitation activities.
